Nina Platiša is a singer, songwriter, pianist, and producer based near Toronto, Canada. She began studying classical piano at the age of seven and composing at seventeen. Nina’s dynamic music is emotional and introspective, spanning various forms - from solo piano to electro-infused soul - drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Béla Bartók, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, and Georges Delerue.
Her latest release is Campaign On: A Lifetime of Athletic Pursuit (2025), a soundtrack album featuring her score for the documentary feature film of the same name, directed by actor and filmmaker Ryan Bruce. The film traces the journey of Saskatchewan native Jon Somers to recapture his peak bodybuilding physique at the age of 51, examining themes of perseverance, nostalgia, and transformation. Platiša says, “It’s reminiscent of ambient electronica and new age. The direction came when I noticed the song Jon chose to pose to at his first bodybuilding competition in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan [in 1991 at the age of 21]. A nod to his nostalgia.”
Her debut album Za Klavir: For the Piano (2023), is a collection of original compositions for solo piano. The pieces combine minimal, contemporary styles, and classical roots, with elements of traditional Balkan folk music. “As part of this project, I commissioned six artists to create videos inspired by a piece of their choosing that responded to the theme of merging traditional and contemporary elements.” In 2024, Nina performed her collection and debuted several new pieces at the Cultural Centre of Belgrade.
Under the moniker LEVELSEVEN, Nina is the vocalist, songwriter, and producer of an album of intimate and cinematic soul/R&B. Her previously released singles I Wove A Garment For You (2020) and Your Lust (2019), are an extension of LEVELSEVEN. When asked about how she manages various projects, Platiša says, “I’ve always been inspired by music that moves me, irrespective of genre. I speak a few languages, and I find composing/producing across genres akin to switching languages. My voice remains, but my cadence, influence and intonation might change.”
In 2021, Nina was the recipient of the Career Catalyst: Project Grants for New Generation Artists, presented by the Ontario Arts Council. That year, participated in the Guelph Emerging Artist Mentorship Program, during which she was the mentee of composer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Bird (Cowboy Junkies). In 2022, Nina participated in Undecimals, an artist exchange project created and organized by artists. In 2023, she was Artist in Residence at Hart House (University of Toronto).
She has contributed to and composed music for several films, including the feature films Broken Waters (2023) and Campaign On: A Lifetime of Athletic Pursuit (2023). In 2024, Nina was selected to be a part of Canada’s Music Incubator Artist Entrepreneur program.
